Prostate cancer awareness month
March is prostate cancer awareness month
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with more than 52,000 men in the UK diagnosed every year.
Although most common among men over the age of 50, it can affect younger men as well. It can be devastating, with more than 12,000 men dying from the condition every year in the UK. Increasing awareness of the signs and symptoms to look out is crucial and may help reduce your risk.
Common symptoms are:
- An increased need to pee
- Straining while you pee
- A feeling that your bladder has not fully emptied.
These symptoms should not be ignored but they do not mean that you definitely have prostate cancer. If you think you may be at risk of prostate cancer or are experiencing any symptoms, contact your GP.
